About the author
Jane Moodie, the acclaimed author and illustrator of the beloved Walter Bean children’s book series, is a true creative force.
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Jane’s artistic journey began in the world of fashion design, where she travelled extensively before returning to her hometown to establish herself as a sought-after artist.
Her art, admired and collected globally, reflects her unique perspective on the world. It was during her early travels that Jane began crafting the first three books of the Walter Bean series, which has since become a treasured favourite among children and parents alike.
With a keen eye for the magical, the true, and the good, Jane’s work is infused with a sense of wonder and curiosity, inspiring readers of all ages to see the world through her eyes.
